New Moon better than twilight?

The Deadbolt (Who I had never heard of until today) Have just recently released an articles stating the 5 reasons why New Moon could be better than Twilight:

New characters, new conflict:

The benefit that most sequels have is that the main characters and their relationships have already been established. This leaves the door open for deeper exploration of the story and characters as the each actor has grown into the roles. For an actor, it is all about the interpretation of a character on paper and the transfer of emotion to the screen. A novel can describe emotion, feelings, and settings but a film has to show it. In the case of New Moon, fans should feel more of what they felt from the books now that Twilight is out of the way and the story can unfold.

In New Moon, Bella and Edward’s relationship has already been established. But, like any relationship, the introduction of secondary conflict can play an important role on the dynamics of love. Without giving too much away, beyond Edward and Bella, the impact Jacob has on the story creates simultaneous conflict. Loyalties will be put to the test while the choices of right and wrong are pitted against those of want and need. Much like a second book in a trilogy, New Moon will cut to the chase in a way fans can already identify with via new character dynamics while delving deeper into the complexities of love.

Starlet in Shadows: Dakota Fanning?

With casting for New Moon in full swing, there’s been much buzz surrounding the possible addition of a highly recognizable name in Hollywood for the role of Jane. Dakota Fanning, former child star turned critically acclaimed young movie star, is only 15 and yet Fanning has more experience in the industry than her possible New Moon co-stars combined.

Dakota Fanning has worked alongside such A-listers as Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington and Sean Penn and knows the acting world inside and out. If cast in New Moon Fanning would be the biggest name attached to the film, even more than her recently popular Twilight co-stars. Although many fans have questioned whether Fanning for role of Jane is the right choice, Dakota brings to the table a masterful range of emotion and a wealth of A-list experience. But will her star power overwhelm her co-stars? What we do know is that she can act and the addition of Dakota Fanning could only raise the acting game of the entire cast to make them better. How well fans receive Fanning as Jane may be a different story.

Digging deeper in the name of love:

Stephenie Meyer herself wrote about how much the character of Edward had cemented his own personality and character in such a way that changing his essence would be like changing his physicality. It could not be done. Edward’s role in New Moon is as much about his character as it is a necessity in the relationship he has with Bella. No great love story would be complete without a special, magical bond that’s sometimes painful on many levels and it doesn’t get any better than with a love-struck teenage girl and a broody vampire.

The success of New Moon over Twilight lies in the ability of actors to inhabit their characters on a deeper level. What Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson bring to Bella and Edward for New Moon will require more than just reading lines from a page. Twilight showed us the magic of an inevitable love story and New Moon will continue the saga in a richer manner. It’s the love story that will force Pattinson and Stewart to go deeper inside themselves as actors than they did in Twilight. Usually when people reach deep and go beyond their comfort zones, good things happen. In this case, it will all be in the name of love.

Setting the new mood:

Although Twilight was filmed in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, mainly in Washington St. and Oregon, heading north to Vancouver, British Columbia can only benefit in a couple of ways. First, Vancouver is perfect for the tone and atmosphere of New Moon since it rains so much that Robert Pattinson will feel at home among “Vampouverites.” Although Washington, Oregon, and Vancouver all fit the franchise well, the dreary scenery in Twilight was able to set the tone of the novel, bringing to life the plight of the characters while creating a setting that befitted Edward and Bella’s relationship both internally and externally. Vancouver will bring that in broody spades.

Second, with the slumping economy director Chris Weitz and crew will get more mileage out of the American dollar in exchange, which should afford the production a few more tricks and effects that Twilight wasn’t able to incorporate purely for financial reasons. Who knows what cost savings will add to New Moon, but it’s better than not having enough to work with.

Half of the mystery of Edward and his family lies in their ability to live in shadow and Vancouver provides the perfect backdrop with cloaked forests and overcast skies. Let’s just hope the crew can keep the rabid fans off the set.

The Quileute Tribe and the Legend:

Jacob Black was originally intended to be a stand-alone character in Twilight but his role in New Moon is more significant, as the underlying conflict between werewolves and vampires comes to the forefront. The Quileute legend speaks of its people being descended from werewolves, with the lore based on real Quileute legends except for the introduced conflict with the vampires (or "cold ones" as Jacob describes them). With the arrival of the Cullens, legend and lore allow fans to journey deeper into the mythology and intricacies of New Moon’s opposing forces. In other words, with such a profound back-story between werewolves and vampires, New Moon will explore more while connecting on a deeper level to Bella. In many ways and aspects surrounding the Quileute Tribe and the legend, New Moon should tap into the book on better levels than that of Twilight. The legend and the expanded significance of Jacob will take fans on a darker journey while evoking more complex emotions than Twilight.

I think they make some good points here and Im starting to agree with the whole New Moon will be better than Twilight thing. But not book wise, Twilight is always better than New Moon book wise. But if you factor in Jacob it makes it a touch better, I just cant get over Bella's emo tendencies!

Dakota Fanning talks New Moon

We are getting really close to finding out who all the actors playing the roles in New Moon will be. And one of the most talked about (And probably most likely) castings is that of Dakota Fanning as Jane. A the premier of 'Push' (Another sci-fi Summit Entertainment film!)ET talked to Dakota Fanning:

"It would be so neat if it worked out, I'm a really big fan," Dakota says about being a part of 'New Moon.' "It's probably too soon to say for sure, but it would be really cool."

'Twilight' stars Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene tell ET they would really like to work with the young star.

"I hope she does ['New Moon'] she's a brilliant actress," Kellan says -- Ashley adds: "Hopefully she will be involved in the second one. I think she's an amazing little actress."

A small interview with Dr Carlisle Cullen ;)

Pop-eater has recently posted an interview which they had with Peter Facinelli Aka The incredibly sexy Dr Carlisle Cullen. In the interview he talks about stuff like the Dakota fanning as Jane situation, Catherine Hardwicke and New Moon:

Even though actor Peter Facinelli, who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen in 'Twilight,' admits he hasn't been keeping up with all the 'New Moon' rumors, he is excited to hear that Dakota Fanning might be joining the cast as vampire Jane. "She is a phenomenal actress... [The role of Jane] would be great for her," Facinelli exclusively told PopEater.

Facinelli says he is excited to start working on 'New Moon,' which is expected to start shooting in March. Even though he hasn't seen the final script, there is one scene he's excited about. "There is a scene where Dr. Cullen stitches up Bella's hand, and there is a really nice conversation... I think it's important to the book," he said.

Despite controversy about the 'Twilight' franchise switching directors from Catherine Hardwicke to Chris Weitz for 'New Moon,' Facinelli said there was no foul play.

"Well, she wasn't locked on to do the second one, so it wasn't like she got kicked off," he said. "I was bummed, only in the fact that I enjoyed her passion... But look at 'Harry Potter.' All those movies have different directors."

"As bummed as I am not to work with [Hardwicke], there is an excitement to work with a new director. Weitz is very passionate about the new movie... he is going to do a great job," Facinelli said.

You can read the rest of the interview here and I think there is even a short video to go with it.

Dakota really wants to be Jane

According to ET online Dakota Fanning really wants to be in New Moon!

"Does Dakota Fanning want to co-star with Robert Pattinson and company in the 'Twilight' sequel? Dakota herself dishes to ET!

Dakota tells ET that although contracts haven't been signed, she does hope to join the cast of 'New Moon.' She tells us she's a big fan of the movie 'Twilight' and would really like to play a vampire, namely the sadistic bloodsucker Jane."

How exciting! So it seems that we have our Jane.

Whos Alec?!

Now that there has been almost definite speculation over who will play Jane in New Moon it leads to the next character in line, Alec! Entertainment weekly have just written an article about who could play Alec and decide who they think is the best actor to play Jane's twin.

Elijah Wood is a popular suggestion, since Jane and Alec are small in stature, but I doubt that the man who starred in the Lord of the Rings trilogy would want to be backburner in a Twilight sequel. Then again, if Weitz (or the director of any future Twilight sequels) wanted to go off-book and flesh out the fascinating Volturi and their guard with Meyer's approval, I don't think anyone would mind. (Right?) Also, what is Elijah Wood doing these days?

Assuming Wood is out, I submit High School Musical's Lucas Grabeel (pictured) for consideration. He might be a bit too tall to pair with Fanning, but they could always have him stand/walk in a shallow hole/trench.

You can read the full article here.
I think that Elijah Wood would be a good Alec but I dont think that Lucas Grabeel would be. I think its the whole Disney feel he has (the same problem with Vanessa) But I still think that Jeremy Sumpter would be a good choice. What do you think?

I was right?!?

Guess who's a psychic/genius. ME! Do you remember way back *insert mist* on the 10th when I made some speculations on the actors to play certain parts? Well I did (You can have a look here) But one of my ideas was for the character Jane to be played by Dakota Fanning. And guess what E! online has just reported... That Dakota Fanning has been offered the role! When weeping in honour of being in my 'presence' please dont stain my outfit. ;)

E! Online says this:

I can exclusively report that the 14-year-old child star—she turns 15 on Feb. 23—is in talks to play Jane opposite Robert Pattinson & Co. in New Moon, the upcoming sequel to box office megahit Twilight.

“There were no auditions,” a source reveals. “They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth.”

Jane is a member of Italy’s Volturi, the most deadly group of bloodsucking killers in author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling series.

In the casting notice we got our hands on earlier this month, Jane is described as a petite blonde with a “Botticelli angel-like face…[and] crimson irises.” While fellow Volturi guards Demetri & Felix “are three times the size of her, they are terrified of her,” the casting notice reads.

You can read the full article here. I would be quite happy if she was cast as Jane, and not just becasue I guessed it, but becasue I think she is almost perfect for the role! What do you think?
