The casting director for New Moon, Joseph Middleton, has announced that "We are finished with the casting process". No details on the cast list has been released by Summit Entertainment.

The rumor mill has been on fire with talk of Madonna, Vanessa Hudgens, AnnaLynne McCord, and Dakota Fanning being hired for a coveted spot on the New Moon cast, however there has been no official confirmation of any of them being hired.

There have also been rumors circulating that Drew Barrymore will be directing the third installment of Stephenie Meyer's
Twilight

As Summit Entertainment looks to lock in a director for the third installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse, the company is talking to a select group of directors -- including actress-turned-helmer Drew Barrymore, EW has learned. While this news may come as a surprise to some, Barrymore did just finish work on her directorial debut, Whip It! starring Ellen Page. Neither Summit nor Barrymore's reps would comment for this story

Now dont get me wrong, I love Drew Barrymore but I dont think she would be the best choice for Eclipse director.

I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens. At the moment I'm so excited about New Moon I can hardly think about anything else!

June 30, 2010 Eclipse!!!

Yay! Eclipse has a date set! Its ages away, but still really fast in the 'film' world. This is according to deadlinehollywooddaily:

I've confirmed there's no director hired yet. And the two productions won't be back-to-back. But that hasn't stopped Summit Entertainment from newly scheduling its Twilight threequel for release on June 30, 2010, not long after its Twilight sequel New Moon set for November 20th this year now being helmed by Chris Weitz. Summit also officially changed the name of its vampire movie franchise based on Stephenie Meyer's bestselling series of novels to The Twilight Saga. Here's how Summit descibes the plot of the threequel Eclipse:

"As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death."

Regarding The Twilight Saga, my sources tell me that director Catherine Hardwick's claim in her diary that she didn't want to helm New Moon isn't accurate because Summit decided not to hire her for New Moon. And I've also learned that Summit only had a deal with Stephenie Meyer for the first book, Twilight. So the start-up film studio had to make individual deals for the other books in Meyer's series, including the new 4th novel Breaking Dawn -- and the author got top-dollar, trust me. To date, Summit's low-cost blockbuster Twilight has earned $363 million in worldwide grosses -- almost evenly divided between domestic and international -- since its release on November 21st, 2008

What the heck does "Summit only had a deal with Stephenie Meyer for the first book, Twilight" mean?!

I just hope, with the speed they are going though the films, they make sure the movies are the best they could possibly be. I really dont feeling like watching another 'running' scene if it looks like the Twilight one. Big budget better graphics?

No Weitz after NM!

According to EW Summit Entertainment will keep the 'twilight' director tradition alive. Chris Weitz will not be directing Eclipse:

Chris Weitz will not direct the third film in the Twilight series, Eclipse, a source close to the production tells EW.com exclusively. Because New Moon, which Weitz is helming, and Eclipse are due to be released so close together (on Nov. 20, 2009, and June 30, 2010, respectively), Weitz will be in post-production on New Moon at the same time that Eclipse will be shooting. That said, the source confirms a report that the movies will not be shot simultaneously or back-to-back; there will be a brief gap between the production of both films.

I cant decide wether that's a good thing or not, but we will surly find out when New Moon is released (getting closer!!!)

I wonder who the next director will be? I'm kind of hoping for Peter Jackson (Kiwi pride!) But Im pretty positive he wouldn't want to direct a teenage vampire drama...

Summit interview

The Hollywood Reporter Has just had an interview with Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger, the head honchos of Summit Entertainment. They blab about about working together and Summit Entertainment it self but most of the questions are twilight related :D

THR: What happened with Catherine?

Friedman: Basically, we had a different vision of what the movie should be, and we decided that the best course of action was to part (ways as) friends. She has done a fantastic job with "Twilight" and continues to promote it. She's still working with us on the movie -- the DVD, she's doing her director's cut. We just agreed that we had a different vision.

THR: Will "New Moon" stay in the same $38 million budget range?

Friedman: No. The next one will be higher than that. We believe that the film will naturally be more expensive. Sequels become more expensive, and we have more special effects.

Wachsberger: And locations. In the second movie there is a sequence in Italy.

THR: There is talk that because Edward is out of the picture for much of "New Moon," there will be elements of the second and third books combined into the second movie.

Wachsberger: No, but Edward is present for the movie.

THR: Are you being approached by various companies offering to give you a ton of money in the wake of "Twilight"?

Friedman: We've become a much prettier girl at the dance. (Laughs.) Look, a business plan always evolves. Are we looking for acquisitions, for library and things like that? Would that involve a partner? Potentially, sure. Would that partner be bringing equity or money to it? Potentially. We're open to discussions with everybody about everything.

A director for eclipse already?!?

The talk of twilight town at the moment has mostly been about Vanessa Hudgens and the who Leah thing, but there has also been another rumor growing underground. This one is about James Mangold. He is the man who has directed films like "Girl Interrupted" and "Walk the Line". Well the rumor gos like this, he has been hired to direct the movie version of Eclipse, already! But Summit say "Nope! Lies I tell you LIES!!!!" Well somthing like that. You can read more at Times-Herald Record.

"Paul Pfluge, head of corporate communications for Summit Entertainment - which controls the "Twilight" property - said a report by trade publication Production Weekly that said Summit was "in talks" with the director were "not accurate."
